A joint research initiative between South China University of Technology’s TRANS Lab and Saudi Aramco, in partnership with KAPSARC, has been selected by the United Nations as a “Good Practices in South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Sustainable Development.”
The research “Artificial Intelligence for Transportation Energy Use and Carbon Emissions,” integrates multi-source big data, deep learning, and Large Language Modeling to systematically analyze energy consumption and emission pathways in the transportation sector. It provides technical and decision-making support for low-carbon transitions in China, the Middle East, and other developing regions.
Ongoing research aims to deliver scalable solutions for clean and affordable energy (SDG 7), demonstrating the value of international cooperation in addressing climate challenges. For reference, the solution is published on the UN South-South Galaxy platform at: https://southsouth-galaxy.org/solutions/detail/user-based-transportation-energy-and-carbon-emission-projection-with-artificial-intelligence-methods/.
