They delivered two lectures at the International Campus: <em>&#8220;Universal Environmental Sensing and Its Applications in Dense Urban Areas&#8221;<\/em> and <em>&#8220;Traffic Emission Estimation in Mountainous Urban Areas Based on Multi-Source Data.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"811\" height=\"607\" src=\"https:\/\/www.translab.top\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-496\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.translab.top\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8.png 811w, https:\/\/www.translab.top\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8-300x225.png 300w, https:\/\/www.translab.top\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/01\/image-8-768x575.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 811px) 100vw, 811px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Wang introduced PolyU\u2019s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, ranked <strong>2nd globally<\/strong> in the <em>U.S. News &amp; World Report<\/em> 2024-25 rankings. The department focuses on sustainability, innovation, and global collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the first lecture, Prof. Wang presented a low-cost mobile environmental monitoring platform used in New York City to measure PM2.5 levels, revealing disproportionate air pollution impacts on minorities and low-income groups. The study is published in Nature Cities and supports targeted pollution control and environmental equity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second lecture analyzed traffic emissions in Hong Kong\u2019s unique terrain using multi-source data, including traffic cameras and geographic information. The research assessed the health impacts of traffic pollution and explored the benefits of transitioning to electric vehicles, providing insights for sustainable urban planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>TRANS members engaged in discussions with Prof. Wang and Dr. Zhang, who offered valuable feedback.
