Academic Lecture |Development and Application of Comprehensive Assessment Models for Climate Change & Low-carbon development trends and innovative practices in the automotive industry chain

Dr. Tianpeng Wang, Assistant Researcher

Liang Qi, Senior Engineer

On September 17, 2025, the TRANS Research Group invited Dr. Tianpeng Wang, an Assistant Researcher from the Institute of Energy, Environment, and Economy at Tsinghua University, and Mr. Liang Qi, Director of the Environmental Finance Office at China Automotive Carbon (Beijing) Digital Technology Center Co., Ltd., to deliver academic reports titled “Development and Application of Comprehensive Assessment Models for Climate Change” and “Low-carbon Development Trends and Innovative Practices in the Automotive Industry Chain,” respectively.

1. Development and Application of Comprehensive Assessment Models for Climate Change

Dr. Tianpeng Wang presented a newly implemented Human-Earth system coupling framework. This framework integrates the China-Global energy-economic model with the Earth system model and multi-sector impact modules, unifying spatio-temporal resolutions and data interfaces to form an integrated assessment chain for mitigation, impact, and adaptation. Under this framework, emission scenarios drive climate responses, and climate impacts—such as those on agriculture, labor, seawater inundation, and energy demand—are fed back into economic and policy evaluations, creating a dynamic analysis of emission reduction pathways, costs, and risks.

2. Low-carbon development trends and innovative practices in the automotive industry chain

This report will introduce the policy background, main trends, current industry status and innovative practices of the automotive industry chain in its green and low-carbon transformation from three aspects: product carbon, organizational carbon and project carbon, supported by industry big data.
